How we make our rings.

In order to make rings long coils are first made. These look like springs. Then they are fed through the special jig that we have developed. This uses a very thin jewelers saw to cut the indivual rings off of the coil.

We are able to cut almost any size coil. From tiny 1/8" coils made out of 22 gauge wire (0.020") all the way up to huge 5" coils made from thick 1/4" round rods.

One of the advantages of this system is that almost any metal can be cut. We have made rings from Aluminum all the way to Zirconium.

Cleaning the rings

Once the rings are cut they are covered in metal dust and coated in a thick layer of oil. The oil lubricates the blades and makes the cut much smoother.

The rings are then tumbled in a vibratory tumbler for up to 24 hours. This gives all rings a shiny mirror like finish. It also removes any sharp edges and cleans them.

Some action videos.

Pictures are ok, but a video really shows much better how these rings are made. To view these videos Divx is required. You can get it for free here.

On top of using oil as a cutting lubricant water can also be used. One cutting setup that I have uses a 25 gallon per hour pump to circulate a huge amount of water over the saw. Slight overkill, but it works well.

And just because many people dont know what a tumbler looks like when it runs, here is a short video of that.
